By signing the Kyoto Protocol, the EU committed to cutting their CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2020. To help meet this target, the EU introduced the European Energy Related Products (ErP) Directive 2009/125/EC framework.

The Energy Related Products Directive came into force for ventilation systems on 1st January 2016.

There is a planned review set to come into force on 1st January 2018 that will provide stricter controls on ventilation products.

What is affected by the European Energy Related Products Directive?

Currently, the European ErP Directive affects both residential and non-residential ventilation systems that operate above 30 Watts.

Every product that is sold within the EU member states are bound by the regulation; even if the product is manufactured outside the EU and subsequently imported into a member state.

In keeping with the ErP legislation, every Airflow product that operates above 30 Watts comes with a Declaration of Performance that provides you with all the information you need.
