Batteries Directive – 2006/66/EC

Airflow is fully committed to complying with the Battery Directive 2006/66/EC and The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 (as amended). As a producer of electrical and electronic equipment containing portable batteries, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously and strive to minimise the impact of our products on the environment. 

Our Obligations

1. Registration:

  • We are registered under The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 (as amended).
  • Our Environment Agency Batteries Producer Registration Number is BPRN12004.
  • Our tonnage of portable batteries within our products is less than 10 kgs and hence, we are classified as a small producer.

 


2. Collection and Recycling:

  • We ensure that our products are properly collected, treated, and recycled at the end of their life cycle.
  • We collaborate with authorised recycling facilities to manage WEEE in an environmentally responsible manner.


3. Consumer Information:

  • Our products and packaging are labelled with the WEEE wheelie bin logo, and 
    installation instructions advise of proper recycling and disposal of our products.

 

Our Obligations

1. Product Design:

  •  We design our products with environmental considerations in mind.
  • We aim to minimise hazardous substances in batteries and ensure that the batteries are removable where feasible.


2. Supply Chain Management:

  •  We work closely with our suppliers to ensure compliance with Waste Battery regulations.
  • Our supply chain partners adhere to responsible practices for sourcing, labelling, and disposing of batteries.


3. Reporting and Auditing:

  •  We maintain records of batteries placed on the market and report data as required by regulatory authorities.
  • Regular internal audits verify our compliance with the Battery Directive.

 

Airflow offers a free ‘takeback service’ for portable waste batteries under the Battery Directive. Customers wishing to return batteries supplied by Airflow should contact our Customer Services Team by emailing: customer_services@airflow.com.
